The Borno State high powered response team for the prevention and control of coronavirus has extended shutting down of state borders from Monday morning being 13 /4/ 2020.
A statement which was signed and made available to newsmen yesterday in Maiduguri by the deputy governor , who is also the Chairman High powered response team for the control and prevention of covid 19, Hon. Umar Usman Kadafur, said movement in and out of the state would be completely restricted .
The statement indicates that the border between Borno and Yobe States would be shut down completely, adding that only those on essential duties and vehicles carrying food items ,petrol, drugs and other essential commodities would be allowed.
The high powered response team therefore warns the general public to abide by this directive pending the outcome of further directives.
The statement said the committee for the control and prevention of the coronavirus is compelled to take such a decision following the recent situation on ground in other States on the rate of confirmed new cases of covid 19.
“The high powered response team has regretted any inconveniences this decision will cause the general public and assured that all preventive and control measures would continue to be put in place to curb the spread of the disease in the state as well as other palliative measures that would cushion the hardship citizens will encounter as a result of the lock down,” the statement reads.
